TYPOGRAPHY / PRINT / CONCEPTUAL EVENT

How can design and strategy propel book engagement to new heights?

The Challenge

Redesigning an existing book cover and promoting it in an innovative way that will appeal to its target audience. I chose this novel for its unique method of storytelling and the scope of the narrative.

The Approach

After reading the book and watching the movie, I identified the core message of the story was about human connection and how our actions and choices can impact each other’s lives. It emphasises the power of empathy and personal growth. I expanded on this through noting the complex themes and creating moodboards from visual research. Then, I explored this typographically, with a variety of experiments.

The Solution

A book jacket inspired by the maze-like structure of the story, with typography mixed in a complex manner, alluding to the circular narrative. With a dark blue background and gold vinyl details conveying the mysterious tone of the novel aswell.

The Solution

For promotion, a massive maze would be constructed and navigated by 6 people. These participants would receive signed copies of the book, as well as merchandise, with a special prize awaiting the first person to reach the center. The aim is that creating a sense of mystery and intrigue with the promotion would draw in its target audience.
